In 2023, as part of the fiftieth anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd launched an animation contest for the album.Instead of tackling the songs one by one, I wanted to make the whole album as a continuous series, song by song. One of these videos, “Brain Damage”, was shared on Pink Floyd's YouTube page.

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon - 01 Speak To Me

The Song: Pink is born into a world of illusions of choices and confusion. The Project: I was 10 years old when I first heard the album, 20 when it affected me musically, and 40 when I finally understood it. The Turkish poet Aşık Veysel describes the world as a long thin road and an inn where we enter one door and leave the other. I believe that side A of the album is about the flow of life, and side B is about the problems and contradictions that an individual encounters on the journey of life, thus, a “cautionary tale”. That's why I wanted to create a visual experience that tells the whole album, with videos that have continuity and relationships with each other. Based on the rumor that the band hates the question "Which one is Pink?", I decided to use a genderless, faceless character named Pink. I wanted to answer the question in this way: Pink is all of us. While creating the videos, I put Pink at the center and created animations; however, since we are surrounded by AI software today, I sometimes used AI software to create the walls surrounding the character and sometimes complementary elements. I created the animations with Cinema 4D and Unreal Engine, created the AI images using Kaiber, and used DaVinci Resolve and Adobe After Effects for editing and coloring. I only used "free-to-use" assets to create the 3D animations, to show that art can still be made for “relatively” free. Website: selcukgucer.com Instagram: @selcukgucer Email: selcukgucer@gmail.com

The Song: Pink is serving a "life sentence" based on his choices, artificailly serving him "lovely" scenes, but wishes to have followed the white rabbit. The Project: I was 10 years old when I first heard the album, 20 when it affected me musically, and 40 when I finally understood it.
